James Dixon
« on: Sunday 21 July 13 18:50 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm struggling to find any links to a James Dixon. I have his First World War medals and know that he served with the Northumberland Fusiliers. His regimental number was 7/3415 which was later changed to 290950. The only other information I have about him is a marriage certificate with his name on as the father of the bride to a Mary Ann Simpson Dixon who married a James Robison on the 27th March 1937 in Berwick Upon Tweed. His daughter according to my research was born on the 23rd December 1913 and passed away in June 1993. Mary lived at 51 Watergate (I think) in Berwick at the time of her marriage. Has anyone else comes across these names when researching their family history?

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Mary Ann Simpson Dixon's birth is possibly registered in the 1st quarter of 1914 as Mary A S Dixon, in Berwick R.D. Mother's maiden name Storey.

There is a possible marriage between a James Dixon and an Alice Storey in Berwick R.D. in the 4th quarter of 1906.

Thank you for your reply,

Yes I came across the Mary A S Dixon registered in 1914 and was wondering whether it could be the same person. I have also found the marriage between James Dixon and Alice Storey but was uncertain whether it was the James Dixon I was looking for.  It is only from the marriage certificate that I have found Simpson being used as a middle name. I wasn't sure if Simpson would have been her mothers maiden name or not and this is why I was uncertain with the link with Alice Storey.

Do you know the names of any of his other children ?

I think I have found the family and if correct there are a lot of children
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

I believe that there may have been an Ethel. Also on the marriage certificate, there is a ..... T. Dixon as a witness. The first name might be Joshua but it's difficult to make out.

If that's true he lied on the 1911 census as that gives a birth year of 1882

Thank you all for your replies. You've given me a lot of new leads. Davidft the name that I was unsure about, the ... T. Dixon may actually be Isabella. Is there a way that I can upload the image of the name onto this site?
