SCHOOLS in Sarnia, Lambton 1940 onwards

Hi everyone
Can anyone help me with the names of schools for primary and secondary education near to 795 London Road, Sarnia, Lambton, from about 1940 onwards.

Are schools allowed to give any information regarding past pupils from the earlier years of 1940's etc..??

If a child was not a Catholic were they allowed to go to a catholic school

I am trying to trace my husband's great aunt's daughter, who lived at the above address, the great aunt is now deceased and her dau will be almost 80 yrs now.
I am really struggling with finding info regarding who this dau defo married and their dau due to the privacy laws and I live in England.

Hi!

Locheil Street School and/or Hannah Memorial are right by where your people lived - public school (grade school) for that time. http://hanna.lkdsb.net/about.htm . SCITS would have been the Public High School.

Our Lady of Mercy is one of the older catholic schools in that area.  It is on the corner of London Road and Christina but is a fair walk versus St. Peters Grade school.  My mother was school secretary there for years.  St. Patrick's would have been the Catholic High School.

I can add that the parents in question, who are now both deceased, were Alfred Edward Clark of Petrolia and his wife Chrissy of England, UK.
They had or adopted a dau in the 1930's >>.

Okay,  here we go...

IF you are looking for someone from a local High School, your best bet is to look for them on-line via the following groups on Facebook.  The groups are very active and you will likely get a few nibbles and a bite or two.

"Lambton County Roots"
"Lost Lambton Found"

The reason I say this is that Sarnia Central opened up just as your searchee would have been hitting High School, and the school was just across the park from your ancestors house.  Unfortunately, the school closed mid 1980s.  There are year books from Central and St. Pat's available at the library in Sarnia.

You can also ask about Hannah Memorial and Locheil Street School there and will get lots of folks who remember going there.  They are not as strict about using real names there.

"I am looking for my great Aunt *** *** Lostaunt, does anyone remember going to school with her?  I think she would have gone to Hannah Memorial or Locheil Street School in the 40s/50s, and Central or St. Pat's for High School 50s/60s."

I can still look at Sarnia Observer records and Yearbooks next time I'm in Sarnia, but the Facebook query may be your best bet!
