William Briggs.

Can anyone help me with William Briggs b 1808 in London, transported for 7 years to Australia. Married Ann Smith 21-8-1884 in Goulburn N.S.W. Not sure just who his his parents were. I'm sure Charles was his father but not sure if his mother is Elizabeth Bale or Betsy Upton. One of William's children was Charles Henry, 16/6/1858-13/6/1929. Any information would really help.

Are you certain you have the correct dates for William Briggs
Born 1808?

Married 1884? (so he was in his 70's when he married??)

Child born 1858

????

I shouldn't be doing this so late at night!!  William was married 21/8/1848. Son Charles was born 1858. Sadly, William died only six months later.

there are many baptisms  in London area for William Briggs but I can only find 2 with father Charles around 1808

Good-morning, thanks for help so far. More info on William Thomas Briggs. I don't have cert's for all the following... born 29/1/1806 in Shoreditch.  Baptised 1/1/1815. Transported 6/4/1826 for 7 years.  Married 21/8/1848 in N.S.W.  Died 25/12/1858 in N.S.W.
He married Ann (Hannah) Smith 1829-1945.  Children as follows...  William Charles 1847-1945.
Betsy 1849-         Thomas 1851-1928.      Alice Sophie Lee 1856-      and Charles Henry 1858-1929.
I have his father as Charles 1783-7/6/1830.    Mother Elizabeth (Betsy) Upton 1782-      and his siblings.....Charles Vango 1802-       Samuel 1803-   and Sophia Elizabeth 1809-
Charle's father as Thomas Briggs and mother Mary Stockwell.  I see in other online tree's an Elizabeth Bale Married to Charles (1783-1830)  I hope some-one can point me in the right direction.

It helps to know William had the middle name of Thomas

Was his father Charles Vango Briggs??

Did he though?  His marriage registration, death registration and birth registrations of his children all list him as just William, as do the transportation records.  Is there any proof he was William Thomas Briggs or is it being inferred because that's the only William Briggs with parents Charles and Elizabeth/Betsy at the right time appearing in London?
