Death San Francisco 1861

I am trying to track down some info on the lady here-in. Her father is my children's gggggrandfather. I am hoping that in finding her I may find the missing link to Ireland.
This is the obituary as it appeared in Sydney, Australia.
Her father was a member of the 50th Regiment of the Foot, and arrived in NSW in 1834. I have Patrick's details in Australia and the rest of the family in Australia.

I am trying to find details of Catherine's death in the USA, her marriage - maybe in USA and immigration/emigration detaills. Any help would be appreciated. many thanks in advance

DEATHS. On the 13th October, at San Francisco, Catherine, the beloved wife of James Phillips, aged 28 and fourth daughter of Patrick Conlon of Parramatta-street, Sydney, after a long and painful illness, which she bore with Christian fortitude. Galway papers please copy.

I think this is your Catherine listed in the Registry for Calvary Cemetery (Oct 1861, page 17) :
Catherine Philip (one "l", no "s"), born in Sydney, married, died 14 Oct 1861, St. Mary's Hospital, aged 27 years, cause of death Pthisis (tuberculosis), interred in D. no. 6

ashenique, I didn't see any article for Catherine's death (or marriage), but I didn't do a thorough search:

A James R Phillips is on the 1860 San Francisco census.  He was born in Massachusetts c1833.  I cannot view additional details.  I don't know if he was married.

Most likely no connection to your Conlon's as you stated they were accounted for in Australia, but in the event one son left Australia [note: I wouldn't think that Catherine would have left Australia on her own, but perhaps she was looking for work??):

January 8, 1911 - Notice for the passing of John P. Conlan.  Unfortunately, nothing that ties him in with your Conlon's.
[Boston papers were asked to copy.  Again, most likely purely coincidental, but James R. Phillips was born in Massachusetts.]

Lisa and Stellamaire - you are brilliant - I can not believe my luck.
The "missing link to ireland" - I should have said I was hoping to find a place in Galway - thinking it may have appeared on a death certificate with reference to her father - clutching at straws on this one.
I will certainly chase up all of these things - including the John P Conlon - I can have a look this end and see what I can turn up.

I called Holy Cross Cemetery on Thursday, hoping that they might be able to provide additional details.  I spoke with a very pleasant, patient man, but he was unable to find anything.  It was a bit confusing, with the Philip/Phillips spellings and the two interment dates in the two cemeteries (he was very patient, while trying to find information).  If I understood him correctly, they only have "their" interment records computerized (they don't have reburial records computerized).  He could not find a burial for a Catherine/Katherine Philip/Phillips in 1940.

Again, if I understood him correctly, she is most likely buried in the Calvary section of the cemetery.  When the Calvary Cemetery closed, the remains were removed from the cemetery and buried in one area of Holy Cross.  I can find out where the section is, if you are interested in the exact location.  If there are any errors in this post, it is an error on my part, not on the part of the person who helped me.

Do you mean 1940 ? Sorry I see that is the reburial of the skull bones.

Hi Sandra:

Catherine was buried on October 14, 1861 in Calvary Cemetery in San Francisco.  Apparently, she was reinterred in Holy Cross on August 13, 1940.
