Hi I'm new to this site.
I'm stuck and thought I would give it a try.(To many Johns)
Looking for info on my GGFather John Donaldson born about 1854 in Glasgow (re:1881 census Campbeltown).
According to his marriage record(Dec 6 1877 to Margaret McAlister, Campbeltown) his parents were John Donaldson (of course!) and Catherine (no maiden name of course!), he lists them as deceased and his father's occupation as a distillery worker. Family roomer has it he was an orphan, and had 1 sister (unkown of course!).
Does anyone have info about him, his siblings, or parents,(maybe 1861 census for Glasgow?) or info about orphans of Scotland, this is driving me nuts!
