Simms Shardlow
« on: Wednesday 10 July 13 22:09 BST (UK) »
Could someone please look up the birth of Eliza Simms born in Shardlow in 1823.
She is listed in all of the census until 1871.  She died in 1880 in Derby.  There is a Nathaniel Sims living with Eliza and her husband Henry Bannister as an apprentice.  I would think that he is related either son or nephew. The census doesn't state. Help would be much appreciated.  Many Thanks

The marriage to Henry was in 1848 but there is a 31yr old son Charles H Bannister on the 1871 census who was b Worcs

Was Henry previously married or was Eliza?

Found them in 1851 and Charles is one - birthyear wrong on 1871 entry

Here's their marriage

There's this one

which given that this Eliza Simms' father's name is Nathaniel, sounds like a real possibility.

Aston-on-Trent is next to Shardlow.

And FS has two marriages for a Nathaniel Simms.  One to Elizabeth Bilston in 1818 and another to Ann Plant in 1837.  So, the young Nathaniel could be Eliza's half-brother (same father, different mother).

and here's baptism for young Nathaniel

Thanks everyone.  I had began to wonder if Nathanial had married twice and that does make sense of the other info if Eliza was half sister  I even began to wonder if Nathanial was Eliza's son but this makes more sense
Thanks.
