William John and Ellen Hayes

  Could anyone please help me how to go about getting a marriage certificate for a John and Ellen
  Hayes. Also a birth certificate for their daughter Mary Ann.  The 1871 Census for England
 John 42 years birthplace Ireland
 Ellen 37 years birthplace Ireland
 David H Hayes 8years son birthplace Burmah East Sudia
 Mary Ann Hayes 4 years daughter birthplace Portsmouth
 I have the marriage certificate of  Mary Ann to Samuel Crawford 9/2/1889 Argyle Presbyterian Church Belfast. father John Hayes.
 The 1901 Census of Ireland Samuel 39 years born Co. Antrim
                                       Mary Ann 32 years born England
Ellen Hayes mother-in -law 62 years born Cork (widow)
I also have a William John Hayes died 14 /1/ 1900 age 72 years residence Ballysillian Belfast
                                 Ellen Hayes died 12/5/1901 age 63 years residence Ballysillian Belfast

It looks like the father should have been William John on the marriage certificate.
I am hoping someone can help me how to get the certificates. Thanking you Jena

Think this might be better on Antrim board (not Cork Resources which isn't for queries anyway) but looks like Belfast cemetery database is your source for the Hayes deaths?

Mrs. Ellen Hayes, age 63, Ballysillan 5 Beechlawn Terr., died 12 May 1901
Miss Mary Elizabeth Crawford, age 9, 5 Beechlawn Terrace Ballysillan, died 3 Mar.1903
Mr. William John Crawford, age 19, 5 Beechlawn Terrace Ballysillan, died 17 Aug.1909

You can use Free BMD to search for Mary Ann Hayes' birth registration- also have a look their for parents' marriage in case they got married in England.

The online Irish civil registration index start in 1845 for non-Catholic marriages but might be best to wait until you find Ellen's maiden name before searching Irish indexes.

Note from the 1871 in Taunton Somerset,that John 42, b Ireland Pensioner Staff Sergt.
Ellen 37,b ireland, David H, b Burma, Mary Ann, 4 b Hants Portsmouth.

Military family,so may be an Army Marriage somewhere. Will see what I can find.
FindMyPast have following birth ref for David H Hayes,
                                               87th Foot,
                                               Rangoon,Burma,
                                               1862, vol    1342,  page  29.

This is easily obtained online or by phone from General Register Office Southport, Lancs.

Using free search on Emerald Ancestors the 1850 Lisburn marriage shows bride's first name is Sarah. LDS matches to a Sarah Shannon.

  Thanks very much Brianne. I have just ordered the birth certificate for Mary Ann Hayes born Portsmouth 1866. She was my husbands grandmother. I knew they lived in Beechlawn Terrace also
had all the info on their deaths.
  Her marriage certificate  states her father was John. The 1901 Census has her born in England and the 1911 born in Belfast.I have wasted a lot of money trying to find her so am hoping I have got her this time. Will let you know soon . Regards Jena

was able to check the other names on the register page for Lisburn 1850 vol 6 page 656 - no Ellen nearest is Eliza Hall or Hull
there is a Marriage for a William Hayes in Banbridge 1855 Vol 2 page 465 and a match for an Ellen Glenn but as suggested best to get birth cert for one of the children first to confirm mother's maiden name

87th Foot Royal Irish Fusiliers were from Armagh. Northern Ireland.
Museum currently in Armagh,may be of help as to whereabouts of regiment to nail down marriage year.
