Bradford 1920 Electoral Register

Does anyone know if I can search The 1920/21 Electoral Reg for Bradford online. I am looking for Thomas Ryder who was married in 1921 and gave his abode as 5 Mavis Street Bradford. I was hoping to find other family members , possible his sisters. Grateful for any guidance.

If you are looking for his sisters don't forget that it was women over 30 that had the right to vote at this time the rest had to wait until the late 1920's  :)

He was about 28 and  his sisters would have been older.

I am not aware that they are on line. Do you know which area of Bradford they lived, as the registers might be held in a local library branch. I know that the Keighley registers are held in my local branch. Currently the central Bradford library is closed (they found asbestos) and being relocated to a new building later this year.

Had a quick look round for details of Electoral Registers, Bradford Archives and paid for subscription sites appear to be the ones for info. (Maybe an e mail to Archives would get a result)
(Having probs at the moment deciding best e mail address to post as Bradford branch shut.)

His marriage is recorded in the Calverley Non Conformist register , but his address is given as 5 Mavis Street , Bradford. That appears to be between Barkerend and New Leeds.

His father is recorded as deceased.

The registers (Burgess Rolls) are held at Bradford central library. Unfortunately the FH and archive floor is closed at the moment because of structural faults but the staff are able to access the records and would be able to do a look-up for you.

Hi,
Heard back from the library, as you say they are undergoing refurbishment and the electoral registers will not be available until December. I think the research librarian is going to have a considerable backlog.
