John and George Thompson

John Thompson 1886-1971 and George Thompson 1890-1968 emigrated from Cavan, Ireland to New York.  George married Mary Foster 1894-1955. 

Both John and George served in WW1 and George served in WW2.

Any info would be much appreciated,

There is a ship passenger record for George & John Thompson arrival in New York 16th march 1910
Departure from Queenstown cork. Address Lakland Bailieborough Cavan Occupations Farmers.
Fathers name John James Thompson. Ship name OCEANIC. John age 22, George 19 :)

You will find the family 1901 living at house no 6 Legland DED Canningstown, Cavan.

Looks like John was also enlisted in Canada as well as for the WW1 Draft - USA. John  Thompson. Born 10 December 1886. Scarsdale New York. Born Co. Cavan Ireland. Mother Margaret Thompson (Mother)  Address of next of kin:- Lakeland, Baillisboro, Co. Cavan. Ireland. Occupation:- Gardener. Single.

Dated 11 th Feb 1918.

There was a border crossing John Thompson born 1886 Ireland and aged 32 years, travelling from New York and arriving Bridgeburg, Ontario 1st - 16 th Feb 1918. Occupation:- Gardener. (To Enlist)

Border crossing Canada to the USA - John Thompson born 1886 Bailieboro Co Cavan, aged 34 years. Brother George Thompson, 308 W 16 th St. New York.  Aunt Mary Anne Ingram, Brantford. Ontario.  Arrriving Buffalo, New York 24 Nov 1920. Occupation :- Farm Labourer. Last permanent address :- Orangeville. Ontario. Had been in the USA from March 1910 (arrived Oceanic) to February 1918.

Previous border crossing Canada to the USA - born 1887 Baileyboro Ireland and aged 29 years.
Port of Arrival Niagara Falls, New York - 15 November 1916. Last permanent address :- Trafalgar. Ontario. Going to Robert Kennedy 308 West 16 th Street NYC to seek work. Farm Labourer. Had been in the USA 3/1910 - 4/1916. Arrived New York on the oceanic 16 March 1910.

The WW2 Draft was known as the Old mans Draft - it doesn't mean that George served however.
