Marriage of BROWN & GLEN in Port Elizabeth 1847

James Gordon GLEN and Mary BROWN were wed in St. Mary's, Port Elizabeth on 3rd of December 1847, according to the "Greenock Advertiser". Could someone please direct me on where I could apply to get a Marriage Certificate please? I'm hoping to get some info on James, such as birthplace or parent's names. Many thanks.

KAB is Cape Town and James died in the Cape so his estate file was sent to Cape Town.

James Glen died in Port Elizabeth on 21 September 1859 aged 65 years, buried St George's Park Cemetery.   [There is a photo of his gravestone on eGSSA - gravestones Port Elizabeth - St George's Park].   He was a farmer.
His 1st wife was Agnes Kinloch & they had 5 children - the last John Francis Gardner Glen was born in Bonhill on 21 July 1839. 
He and Mary Brown had 3 children - Agnes Brown Glen born 4 Feb 1849, William Brown Glen born 27 Nov 1851 & Georgina Glen born 8 Oct 1852 & all baptized in the Union Chapel, Port Elizabeth.

Can anyone on this thread help please? I am researching my Wife's (Dawn Wood) family and she is a direct ancestor of James Glen through his Daughter Mary, b. 1825 and Husband John Wood, b.abt 1826. If anyone has any additional information about this family, I would really appreciate it. I am working from the UK and do not have direct access to SA records. There is some information on the Wood side which is descended from the Wood-Penny 1820 Settler family but I have some frustrating gaps.

how interesting - I was just looking at this post yesterday after many months  and the next day - there you are! I hate to disappoint you but I do not believe we have a connection. My James Glen (born 1821ish) married Mary Brown (born1826 in Greenock) in Port Elizabeth, SA 4 Dec 1847. They had 3 children tthen travelled to Australia in 1854.

1st Wife Ann Penny, born 1789, died Feb 1836 in Port Elizabeth, buried 27 Feb 1836 in St Mary's Cemetery, PE, daughter of Charles and Susanna Smith nee Bagshaw
7 children of whom John Wood was the third child.

Married 2nd wife Mary Jane Curtis on 18 Nov 1838 in St Mary's Church, Mary born 1796, died 1 Oct 1867

John Wood born 1826 in Romford, Essex, died 24 Aug 1902 in Port Elizabeth, buried St George's Cemetery, PE, occupation carpenter, builder

Married Mary Glen 11 Sep 1851 in Union Chapel, PE. Mary died 29 Oct 1876.

They had 5 children:
Georgina Sarah Thomson Wood, born 21 Sep 1852
Charles Penny Wood, born 20 Feb 1854, died 17 Aug 1854, buried St George's Cemetery
James Wood, born 16 Aug 1855
Janet Mary Ann Wood, born 21 Jun 1857
Isabella Agnes Ann Wood, born 31 Jan 1861
