Can anyone decipher these names
« on: Friday 05 July 13 04:34 BST (UK) »
Hi There,
My ancestor Catherine McMahon nee Farrelly/Farley's parents names (first names on the top line)
I know the second line reads "Farley living at Norbur (meaning Nobber.)"
My research (Catherine's Australian death certificate suggests the Father is Timothy which is correct but her Mother was Mary (Garragan) which doesn't look correct in the pic.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brien

Hi Brien:

I'm not sure about the first name but to me the second one looks like Ann.

Looks like Timothy and Ann, though the T of Timothy is a bit odd.

Agree with Timothy but wondering if it's Annie rather than Ann. Definitely not Mary.

It could be Mary at a stretch.    Look at the way the record keeper uses that big flouncy curve at the beginning of the 'R' in the column alongside.    Maybe he's doing the same thing with an 'M'.

Also, the woman's name does appear to have the lower section of a 'y' in it, above the place name.
