Burton in Lonsdale
« on: Tuesday 02 July 13 18:52 BST (UK) »
I have found that there is a place name in the records (Ingleborough archaeology site) of either Barnoldswick or Barniawick.  Probably don't think this is the Barnoldswick nr Colne so would welcome any help with finding a place near Burton in Lonsdale which would be where my family came from !  Many thanks for suggestions ( I don't live too far away and can visit )

Hello,  You are right in assuming that there is a Barnoldswick, near Burton in Lonsdale.  I think there is only one habitation there now, but as far as I recall, it is near where the Pottery used to be.  It is approached by a narrow lane off to the right as you descend the hill, leaving the village on the Ingleton road and  which I am sure is a cul de sac.    Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,
Looking for the Willson/Wilson family, specifically a birth of Edmund Wilson abt 1758. He was a tailor whose adult life was in Garstang, and I think had a brother John, also a tailor.  They are mentioned in a bastardy bond on Nat Archives showing residence as Burton, and I think there may have been family links with Tunstall parish.  I have been looking at Lancs OPC and found earlier Edmond Wilson s there and as it is so near seems likely.  Also Todgill as a residence

No Capsticks as yet, but thanks for your offer of sharing.

Kind regards, Brenda
