Once LiverScot has made 3 posts then you can both exchange recent family details and personal information offline.

Is Margaret's supposed age calculated from her marriage certificate? (this was asked in reply #1 but I didn't see an answer).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks aghadowey - yes, it's calculated from other certs, as we've never been able to find exact birth documents - a real mystery.

Miss Poohs,

GRONI in Belfast keep the statutory birth records. I suggest you ring them and ask them to search for Margaret’s birth for you. There is a birth search facility on their computer system whereby you can enter the parents’ names whilst leaving the child’s forename blank. That search should then bring up every child born to those parents. That should find Margaret’s birth if it’s there, and provided it’s spelled Cook(e). If the birth is not quite where or when you were expecting, but was within what is now Northern Ireland, they should still find it. (That will resolve whether the 1915 birth is hers too).

GRONI will normally do that search on the spot for you. There may be a search fee as well as a fee for the certificate. (I think it depends how much searching they have to do). You can pay over the phone by debit or credit card. http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/gro

Ohh thank you Elwyn, that's great information and certainly worth a try.

I've been chipping away at this for a very long time with no success - and now I'd love to be able to help closer relatives (who I've been lucky enough to find) unravel this mystery.

For reference-

Agnes' birth rules out the 1915 Margaret.

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks aghadowey. I didn't mean to infringe the rules of the forum. I was just excited about finding a possible new connection.
