Trying to locate headstone in cemetery
« on: Thursday 27 June 13 08:56 BST (UK) »
Hi, :)
Would anyone know how to obtain a detailed map of Fletton Cemetery in Peterborough UK?
I have been given my deceased  grandmothers section and grave number but can not find any maps over the internet to find the specific location.
If anyone can give me any advise or a link I can follow it would be kindly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
buzzby  :)

See if they have a web site, check for a bereavement service. Also if they have a site the local authority which cares for it should be on the site.

For some reason Peterborough council have only a central number listed for all their cemetaries and bereavement councillers.

They inform you that should you call they will tell you their charges for searches in their records.

Fletton Cemetary is not listed anywhere with a phone number of its own.  Which is a shame as often if you call, the groundsmen can tell you if a grave has a headstone/or marker and remember not all graves do (think of the amount of people buried in 1 cemetary and if the all had markers!)

So it would appear that unless someone on here can either provide the number for Fletton or is willing to take a trip for you.  You may have to pay to find out.

Sadly, many councils are now cottoning on to this little moneyspinner.  Average rate is around £25.00 to £30.00 per search!

Sell (Herts/Essex/W. London)

Might it help to modify the title of this thread and make it 'Fletton Cemetery, Peterbrough' ?
It would make it easier for anyone fairly local to spot.
You could ask a moderator to sort it out I think.
Good luck,

Hi buzzby

Here are the contact details for Peterborough bereavement services.

http://www.peterborough.gov.uk/community_information/deaths,_burials_and_cremations/cemeteries.aspx

As you have all the details regarding the plot there should be no charge for pointing you in the right direction.

For a photographic overview of the cemetery, use 'google maps' and search for Fletton Avenue Peterborough, use the satellite view and zoom in.
