Dale - Waters, John and Maria

Is there anyone who has any information regarding John Waters and his wife Maria, and who would be kind enough to let me have this information?

The only fact I know about them is that that had two of their children, John and Margaret, baptised at Dale in 1800. I have a copy of the baptism entry. I am a descendent of Margaret.

An online 'tree' indicates that they were married at Haverfordwest on the 21st April 1790, and that they had two children, Elizabeth and Maria, baptised at Walton West in about 1791 and 1793, and a further child, Lettice, baptised in about 1801 at Dale. I have been unable to verify any of this, and cannot vouch for its accuracy.

I know this is an old post but have you ever been able to find any further information? I am a descendant of Maria, she was my 4 times gr grandma.

I know her daughter Maria had a number of illegitimate children.
So far I have managed to evidence Maria and Johns other children:
Elizabeth (b.1791)
Maria (b.1792 - 1870)
Mary (b.1795)
Jon (b.1797)
Margaret (b. 1799 - 1874)
Lettice (b. 1801)

As regards the children of John and Maria, I have the same information as you with the following exceptions.

I do not have any record of Mary (b.1795). I would be interested to know the date and place of baptism.

I have no record for Jon (1797). Again, I would appreciate details of the baptism.

The rather battered baptism entry for John and Margaret indicates their baptism year as 1800. Month missing, but before April. Both baptised on the same day.

Lettice - Baptism - I have 26th May 1811 at Dale.

As you no doubt know already, Maria (baptised at Walton West on the 10th November 1793) married Charles Rees. Their daughter Mary Ellen Rees died in Provo, Utah, on the 28th December 1904.

I have never been able to establish any relationship between John Waters and John Lowes Waters, and I have tried.

I believe that Philip Waters (1808) was an illegitimate child of Maria Waters junior, as was Anne Waters (1815).

I have no ideas about Dorcas. He's not in my family tree.

It's a long time since I researched this branch of my family, so I have had to go back to my notes.

I do remember researching John Lawes Waters to see where he fitted in. I concluded that he was probably born in Bath, but could find no connection to John Waters and his wife Maria in Dale. I discounted him as being any further interest to me. I note that there is a baptism record for a John Laws Waters at Bath on the 18th February 1765, parents Charles Waters and Ann.

I do not have the burial record for Maria Hayes. Findmypast has the burial record for her at Dale in 1845 (Transcript gives her year of birth as 1769 which is probably calculated from the age given at the time of her death). I am unable to view the record as I have no subscription to FindMyPast.

I am satisfied that Maria John senior married Jeremiah Hayes at Dale on the 25th January 1821, her husband John having died prior to January 1820. If anyone knows different, please let me know.

I have Maria being buried 24/7/1845 in Dale

John and Margaret were baptised on the same day, this happened occasionally if the father was away. Mary was baptised in Dale 29 May 1795.
