Eric Ralph Rogers POW Sandakan
« on: Tuesday 25 June 13 12:04 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Wondering if someone could help me in finding out information on a relation of mine named Eric Ralph Rogers, who was with the British Royal Artillery 69 Bty., 21 Lt. A.A. Regt when captured and forced on the Sandakan death march. His service Number is 1772638 and his rank was Lance Bombardier.  I would be interested to know how they came about his date of death being 30/6/1945, was there some records kept by the Japanese as from what I can find out only 4 Aussies survived the forced march by escaping?  I would also like to know if possible where I can obtain information on the history of my relations regiment.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi dodger,

At the National Archives there will be a Japanese index card for Eric, found within the file series WO345/44.

His details are recorded on the cofepow database here:
