I've looked at this twice today and wondered what on earth it meant.
I'm glad I'm, not the only one who doesn't understand the question.

Is it some kind of Shield?

There is no such thing as a 'coat of arms for a surname'. Many people of the same surname will often be entitled to completely different coats of arms, and many of that surname will be entitled to no coat of arms. Coats of arms belong to individuals. For any person to have a right to a coat of arms they must either have had it granted to them or be descended in the legitimate male line from a person to whom arms were grantedor confirmed in the past.    www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/Faq.htm

Here is one. Lots of fakers sell them to the unsuspecting. You can get one for Smith or Jones if you wish. Elsewhere you might find another entirely different concoction.

Sorry - I see that Gadget has already zoned in on that one.
