Hi Marienne, hope all's well.

Can you please let me know who is interred in Ford D431. I'm looking for a Mary Ann Gibbons/McMahon b 1906 and d July 1976 age 69. There is a Mary Ann on the headstone with a date of death of 1962 age 84, so not sure if I have the wrong grave or not!

Many thanks, John

I'm hoping to find out where my mother's little sisters were buried (I think in Ford cemetery).  Their names are Edna May Rooney (died aged 2, 1927 Q4) and Margaret (Peggy) Rooney (died aged 1, 1933 Q4).  Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to Rootschat Hector7 :-)

Looks like Marienne is busy at the moment so I had a look for you.

Ford Cemetery
Section SV grave 1646, buried 4 Oct 1933
Margaret Rooney, residence Corporation Hospital, Bootle, aged 21 months
This was a public grave so there will not be a headstone and 3 other (unrelated) babies were buried in that grave on the same day.

Ford Cemetery
Section SV grave 589, buried 27 Dec 1927
Edna Rooney, 14 Balliol Terrace Bootle aged 2 years
again this was a public grave so no gravestone and 2 other (unrelated) children buried in that grave on the same day.

Boo

Thanks so much Boo.  I’ve had a look at what I think is section SV on Google maps and it looks like a large area with no headstones or other identifying features at all.  Does anyone know if there’s a way of identifying the (approximate) location of individual plots or maybe that’s asking too much!

Hi Hector

No problem, I have access to the burial registers and they were easy to find.
This thread is 'technically' for requests regarding purchased graves as Marienne has the graves registers microfiche.
I just replied as you are new and will still be sussing out how things work in here.

But its easier in the future if you want to know when/where someone is buried to post on the main Lancashire board or the Lancashire Lookup Requests board. If you get a section and plot number in a private section then you can post that on this board to ask if Marienne can tell you who else is buried in that plot.

SV, as I said was a 'public' section of the cemetery, not a private one, so will only have plots where the rights to future burials  in the same grave and right to erect a headstone were NOT purchased. This is why there are no visible gravestones on the satellite view,
Section Plan:

Section Usage List
https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~hibernia/genealogy/PDFs/Ford_Cemetery_Section_Usage.pdf

I am not aware of a detailed plot map for the Public sections, though hopefully someone may come along and say there is one I am not aware of.

Hello. I see that you have been discussing burials in Yew Tree Cemetery. I don't know if any of you can help, but I was trying to find the burial plot details for a Walter Alldritt, who died on 27 July 1990, and who is buried in the cemetery.  Thanks in anticipation.
