Richard JUDGE died 1778 Ewelme
« on: Thursday 20 June 13 14:43 BST (UK) »
My 5x Gt Grandfather Richard JUDGE died 9th April 1778 at Ewelme Oxfordshire, not sure how old.
He was married to Elizabeth _____ ? But after many years of searching I cannot find this marriage.
They had I believe, 3 sons, John bap 1774, Richard bap 1776 (my 4x Gt Grandfather) and Thomas bap 1778 all at Ewelme. After Richard's death in 1778, I found extracts from the Overseers Disbursments Ewelme (payments to the poor) showing his widow Elizabeth receiving payments from the parish. Elizabeth remarried in 1788 to John EATON.
I should be most grateful for any ideas in finding either the marriage of Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth _? or his birth and parents.
 Thanks. P U

P U,

I assume that you have already carried out a search of the Ewelme records ? - I've had a quick look and there is not a baptism or marriage for Richard.

With luck, the marriage will appear in the OFHS Marriage Index - I don't have a copy, but I know that someone will be along at some stage who will.

Thank you both very much HarryW and Victor,
for taking time to look in your records for the burial & marriage of Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth---? in and around the EWELME area. I do appreciate your help.
I have also been in contact with OFHS who have also been very helpful in their search but alas no marriage for a Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth----? anywhere near EWELME within at least 33 years of 1774. So it's possible that they were never married but still had their children baptised in EWELME in 1774,1776&1778. However I still need to locate this RICHARD JUDGE who I should imagine was born around 1750/55 around this area of Oxfordshire. P U

Hi.  I'm doing my husband's tree and Richard Judge is his 5th Gt.Grandfather.   I have him married to  Elizabeth Slyth or Hyth (register is difficult to read).  They married at St Leonard, Heston, Hounslow, Middlesex on 2 November 1762.    I've not been able to find a baptism for either of them.  All their children were born in Ewelme.   Judy
