From Hertfordshire to Kent
« on: Wednesday 19 June 13 19:57 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Can someone find Thomas Luck and his family in the 1871 census. Who was the mother of Lydia and Mary? Who did he marry before Heneritta?

Thomas Luck was born 1838 in Redbourn and was a Soldier in the 1861 census at Harwich. In 1881 he is with his wife Heneritta who he married in 1876 and children Lydia 18 and Mary A 9, at Gravesend Kent. Thomas died 1882 and Heneritta 1883 Gravesend Kent.

Thankyou

Hi

1871 - doesn't look like he is with Henrietta.

RG10 892 19 page28
Frederick Zedan 38 shoemaker bRussia?/Prussia?
Henrietta 32 (all born Gravesend)
Esther 12
Lydia 9
Eliza 4

Looks like Mary is a Zedan too.
Search Freebmd for surnames starting ZEDA* you will get Zedan and Zedau
Spotted another spelling ZEDAW

Marriage Dec 1876 Gravesend 2a 699
Henrietta ZEDAN    includes Thomas LUCK

Thomas in Army in 1861 + 1881, worth looking around Gravesend barracks in 1871?

Only other marriage that I can spot is 1861 TL to Mary Ann Reeve 1861 mar maidstone 2a 549

In 1861, Thomas Luck is a Private at Harwich (Class: RG 9; Piece: 1094; Folio: 62; Page: 50).

Presumably in 1871, he is serving overseas?

Hi [ Kevin ]

Yup, but may just be a transcript error.

Someone has a public tree which shows Henrietta was married before to a Wilhelm Fredrich Zedan.

The two girls you mention  (Lydia and Mary)  have Henrietta as their mum (although Lydia was born in 1863 with Mary following   -  and Thomas and Henrietta did not marry until 1876 after Wilhelm Zedan died in 1875)

Hello,

Thankyou all for your help. So the girls were Zedans. Can anyone see Maryann in the 1891 census. She was very young when her Mum died.

Is there a death for the Mary Ann Reeve who married Thomas Luck in 1861 Maidstone?
