Hi
Can anyone tell me what the name of the workhouse/ institution was called in Forest Hill, S.E. London in 1890 - 1912, please.??   Also how do I access the name of a `Boarder` who was there at that time.?
Thanks

Forest Hill came under the Lewisham Poor Law Union.

Some records for this workhouse have been digitised by Ancestry. What exactly are you trying to find out?

(You may want to ask a Moderator to move your post to a new thread, as it doesn't seem to relate to Stepney.)

Thanks.  - I am looking for details of my Grandad, who was listed as a boarder in 1911, at 84 Devonshire road, Forest Hill. I know he was an illegitimate baby and was placed in an institution, - but I just keep hitting brick walls - I want to know where he was born and who his mother was, and where she was from. I think he was born 1898 - 1902.
I am new to this forum , so I am sorry  if I have put this in the wrong place.

Hi

I created a new topic for you so it didn't get lost elsewhere.

If you gave us his name we could have a look around the records for you.

I havent checked on place of birth from 1911 or anything -

But maybe this is his birth?
Jul/Aug/Sep 1902
Camberwell 1d 871

Not sure about it, as there is another Douglas Garner in 1911 (not your one) who might be this guy.

Going back to your first post - how do you know he was illegitimate?
When/where did he die?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

not the right douglas garner. already checked him out. thanks.

Know my grandad was left at birth, illegitimate, because he told me, and there is another douglas garner in 1911 at devonshire road as a boarder. but says he is 12 years old, so it probably is  him.
