The Lion Public House, High Street, Dudley
« on: Wednesday 19 June 13 15:21 BST (UK) »
I would like to learn information relating to an old pub which used to be in High Street, Dudley which was called The Lion. I have ancestors who used to own & run the Windmill Inn in Dudley but have recently discovered in the 1891 census that following the death of her husband, Mary Harvey, then
worked as manageress of The Lion in High Street presumably after selling the Windmill Inn.
If anyone can tell me anything about The Lion I would be most grateful & if anyone knows where I might be able to track down an old photo I would welcome being pointed in the right direction please.
With Many Thanks.

The only reference I can find is 1896 Kelly's which gives Charles Power as Licensee.

Nanny Jan

Note that Dudley was in Worcestershire, not Warwickshire, so it may be a good idea to look at that record office and post a query in that county section !
All counties -Brightley, Brightwell; Cambridgeshire - Peggs; Staffordshire / Derbyshire - Hollis, Myatt, Kidd; Birmingham / West Midlands - Woolley, Harley; Warwickshire - Warren; Oxfordshire - Golby/ Goldby, Ashmore; Herefordshire - Harley
