Ancestry has a number of on trees featuring her saying that she was born 1788, in Pembrokeshire, and that here parents were John Rixon (1760-1808) and Elizabeth Morgan.  These trees cite the Bishop’s transcripts for Pwllcrochan, as evidence of her baptism.  Unfortunately a copy of the original of that document is not attached to enable independent verification.  What at least one of these tree has are fairly well documented citations, to take the tree back a further two generations:

John was the some of Stephen Rixon (1731-1798) and Mary Enion.  Stephen being baptised at Pwllcrochan.  His father was William.

That tree also says that the surname can be spelt Rickson, or Riskston.

I think I've spotted her on FindMyPast.  There's a burial for Durance Johns at Pembroke Dock, 29 March 1845, age 57.  That matches with a baptism for Durance Rickson at Pwllcrochan on January 10th 1788, where the parents names are John and Elizabeth.  Different parish but looks possible.

Thankyou both. A rather simple subtraction done correctly, and I may just have found her. Abraham (& Durance) held the Lion in King St, which on his death in 1844 the licence passed to Maria Rixon, no doubt some relation to Durance.
Looks as if Durnace had gone off to Steynton (Stainton) to work to be of that parish at mrge in 1815.
Oh well I still have many more to research.

If you want to go further back it is possible to find earlier baptisms, marriages and burials for ladies with the same name, Durance, but different surnames.

If that is of interest to you let me know.
