It will probably depend on where the reference is that you are looking at
e.g.
Mountbellew on a Civil Record refers to a large area that includes Cloncannon and Ahascragh

Ahascragh is a town and parish

Cloncannon (with various spellings and additions of family names) is situated in a central part of this parish in the Barony of Cloonmacnoon. It is about 2 miles North of Ahascragh.

So Cloncannon is a specific address, Ahascragh a wider one of the parish and Mountbellow a larger one of a civil boundary!

Oh I see now! The links for these records are further back in this post. All the baptismal records say Ahascragh except one says Mount Bellow. But then their 1901 and 1911 censuses specifically say Cloncannon Dillon. So Im assuming now Mount Bellow was a civil record, the others are church and the census is where they actually lived. But if i were to go and visit the ACTUAL place they lived, that would be Cloncannon Dillon right? Im just trying to figure out where I would visit now that i know the area :D

Cloncannonn Dillon would be the address of their homeplace
This is a townland which means it is a number of houses scattered over an area rather than located together LINK to Ordnance Survey Map of area

In this site you can look at old maps of the same area by using the features on the right hand side to change between 2005, 2000, 1995 and historic maps; this gives a good feel for the changes in an area over time!
