Hello Janan

We are looking for the parents of John Lashmar born about 1734 in west Grinstead. Married Hannah Borer/Borrer in 1759 in Shipley. Had 5 children all born in West Grinstead. John died 1799.

All help very gratefully received.

Anne

Hi

Welcome to Rootschat :D

If you are sure that Susanna was born in Sussex you could start a new thread, including pictures of the sampler, on the general Sussex board
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=37.0

Or you could start a thread in the Common Room
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=46.0

Either way I am sure you will attract a lot of interest :D The inscription sounds like it could be Welsh :-\

Hello

I am trying to find the surname of Sarah, Mother of Newman Batman, Christened at St Mary's Funtington, Sussex.

05/07/1806 Newman John Sarah BATMAN

I'd be delighted if you could help me find the marriage of John and Sarah.

Thank you
Regards

Helen

The Sussex Marriage Index has one possible marriage in that time frame.  John Batman of Chichester, St Peter the Great, to Sarah Guard at Buriton Hampshire 2 April 1804.
Maybe worth thinking about.  Did they have other children?  Presumably the Newman is a surname from somewhere in the past.

Hello, thanks for that Chichester is very likely.  Newman had siblings born in Funtington but there are so many John Batmans about.  Maybe there are more siblings earlier than 1806. Does the marriage index register have their dates of birth and parents?

also could you just confirm were they married at Buriton or Chichester, thank you so much.

Helen
