Hi

I'm looking for a marriage about 1830 for Richard Dutton baptized about 1795 St Botolph Aldgate to a woman in Worthing Sussex, along with baptisms for their children: Louisa 1831, Elizabeth 1833, and perhaps Mary 1835.

It appears that Worthing folks are in the Broadwater records until a point in the early 1800s, and the fiches at West Sussex appear to begin in the 1860s. So there's a gap, and those are the records that are of interest.

I hope you can help clarify if the records exist, and if they do, whether there's any info on our Duttons.

Thanks,

Judy

The Sussex pre 1837 marriage index does not have a marriage for Richard Dutton at any time so it looks as if they married outside Sussex.
There is a burial at St Andrew, Hove for Richard Dutton age 75 in June 1877 on the sfhg database.  Can't see baptisms for those girls either.

Thanks for the time to check. Disappointing as the girls told the census takers they were born in Worthing.

I see you already had this information.

Duplicate request posts can cause confusion.   I was going to ask for the census references but will move to the other post.

I'm locking this thread until I've done the outstanding requests, I'll post results here and will then start a new thread for any further requests.

Cheers

Judy

I checked Broadwater baptisms 1830-38 but no Dutton (or Knight) baptisms for Louisa, Elizabeth or Mary. This could mean they were not baptised, were baptised much later than expected or were baptised non-conformist.
Sorry I haven't been able to help

Mark

Very little Littleworth actvity in Fittleworth (none I could see in Petworth) just  the marriage, baptism of William and burial of William and Mary. I didn't see a burial for Sarah in the 1820's. Do you know roughly when James would have remarried for the 3rd time?

In case you don't have full details

3 May 1819
James Littleworth of Fittleworth and Sarah Sadler of Fittleworth witnesses Solomon Wells and Esther Hawkins all above made their mark plus Geo Piper clerk
I've just realised I didn't notice what if anything it said for James' condition at marriage - will check that for you at some point

Baptism Jan 2nd 1820 William son of James and Sarah Littleworth abode Fittleworth occupation Labourer

Burial Feb 16th 1820 William son of James and Sarah Littleworth 2m

Burial Oct 31 1825 Mary Ann daughter of James and Sarah Littleworth 4yrs

All at Fittleworth

Egdean Baptisms
16 Sep 1798 Sarah dau of James and Jane Sadler
April 10 1811 Jane base born dau of Sarah Sadler
Egdean Burial
Aug 11 1811 Jane Base born dau of Sarah Sadler - poor Sarah all 3 of her known children died :'(
