Hi Jan,  thank you for the kind offer.  I hope this is simple:

James LITTLEWORTH (b 1891/92) "married 4 times and had 31 children", I am descended from Wife #4 and have been trying to research the children/marriages of James.

Wife #1: James LITTLEWORTH "married" someone during his army career and had at 3-6 children with her.  One of the children was born in 1816 and was still alive in 1866.  There is no record of the wife or other children after the sinking of the Boadicea in 1816.  James survived.  Not sure how to track down dead/living passengers from that disaster.  Still searching for this one... this one you cannot help me with :)

Wife #2: James LITTLEWORTH  married Sarah Sadler (d. of James Sadler and Jane, Egdean Parish) in 1819 (Fittleworth, Sussex, England), they had two children that I know of: William LITTLEWORTH (b:1820, d:1820), and Mary LITTLEWORTH (b:1821, d:1825).  James was away with the army, and Sarah may or may not have gone with him at times.  According to my documents, James had 2-8 children with her after they met.  They lived in Petworth according to pension documents.  This is where I could use a hand trying to find lost children.  Or did she die and they had no more than 2?

Wife #3: James LITTLEWORTH married someone after? Wife #2 and before Wife #4.  They had 3-12 children, likely in Canada and USA.

Wife #4: James LITTLEWORTH "married" Marguerite LANGLOIS abt. 1838 in Upper Canada.  They had 14 children.  I have fully documented this lot.


Any Help is a godsend :)

Hi Janan,

Mary Pattenden was born in Withyham, Sussex in 1828. She married three times:

1) Henry Kenward, who died young
2) William Dyer, - (who I am unable to find a Birth or Death for).
3) George Holman.

My link is through her second Marriage to William Dyer. Their son, my G/G/Grandfather, (also William Dyer) was born in Lingfield, Surrey in July 1847.

Mary and William Dyer, (Junior) are in East Grinstead, Sussex on the 1851 Census, with George Holman as a Lodger. But what happened to William Dyer, Senior?

Mary Dyer later married George Holman, after the birth of at least one child. They went on to have quite a few more...

But what happened to William Dyer, - husband No 2?

Do you have the marriage certificate for Mary and William?   That should give his age and father's name so would help a lot.  They married in the Godstone registration area so maybe Lingfield church?  There is a possible death for a William Dyer registered in Godstone in 1852 - have you discounted that?
Does the birth certificate for 1847 give an occupation for the elder William?

Hi sillgen,

Yes, I have that Cert. (will try to attach a snippet from it)

It just says, 'full age' for both William and Mary. Mary is a Widow & William a Batchelor.
William Dyer's father is also William Dyer, Occupation: 'Labourer'. Mary's father is William Pattenden. Both William and Mary resident in Horne.

William Dyer, (Junior) is born in Lingfield in July 1847.

I think that the Godstone 1852 Death didn't fit in some way... (I shall have to check back on my notes on this branch).

Mary Dyer didn't Marry George Holman until 1855, (in East Grinstead, Sussex). If the 1852 Death was the right one, - it seems strange that they didn't marry earlier, - especially as they had children by 1855:

Ann Dyer baptised on 30 May 1852
Father George Holman
Mother Mary Dyer
Notes A baseborn child of Mary wife of William DYER living in adultery with George HOLMAN

This is at East Grinstead, St Swithun, so William may not be dead in 1852.

Hi there, i am trying to find parents of JOHN BLAKE born old sarum, wilts 1792 and he died in chichester in 1864. would his death cert. show his parents names? and if so, would you be able to help me???? thank you
