I have the Pitman family on the 1851 census. They came from Walton in Somerset. The family were in what I can only assume is the street. Principal Street. James PITMAN 55, stone cutter, Somerton, Somerset, Ann 56, work at home, Glastonbury, Somerset, Isabella, 25 Shoe binder, Walton, Som, Silas 23, Stone cutter, Walton, Som, Eli, 21 Ag Lab. Walton, Som Henry 16 ag Lab, Walton Som. Silas had married Hannah Pursey, but died sometime between 51 and 61, on the 1861 census Silas was a widower, 34, stonecutter, Walton, Emily 8 dau scholar, Walton and Frank son 6 scholar Walton, the youngest son Eli was staying with his grandfather Francis Pursey he was 3 and was born in Street. I will have to see what I can find on the 1871 census and further. I know Frank was at Keinton Mandeville in 1881, Eli was in Bristol,, Henry was still in Walton, and Emily was in Paddington, she had married James Batt, and had a daughter Lilian. In 1891 Emily was living in Keinton Mandeville, James was a Master Baker.
A cousin of theirs Charles Plenty was living at Wincanton.
