Hi, George Armstrong b 24/2/1737 Haltwhistle m Jane, i would like to find her maiden name to get me out of a hole.
IGI throws up Jane m 19/7/1748 Warden that would make George 11yo.

It's possible that George was baptised as an older child - where did you get the information from?

George born 1755 is feasible but with a name as common as Armstrong you would be advised to seek out some other corroborating evidence.
It's odd that his age is given as 86 on the 1841 - it should have been rounded down to the nearest 5. Could be a lucky break for you that it wasn't

Not really to do with your request, but has your name anything to do with Cundy Cross in Barnsley ?

There is a burial for a George Armstong in St John Lee 27th March 1844. Age 88. Abode given as Acomb. Could be the same man you located in the 1841 census. May not get you any further but thought you might find of interest.
