Roger Oswald Mosley of Farnworth
« on: Thursday 06 June 13 12:41 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to find out more information regarding Roger Oswald Mosley. He was born in 1872 at Farnworth to James and Ann Mosley. In 1895 he married Louisa Burley. They had two children both born in Farnworth, Lily born 1906 and John born 1909. At the time of the 1911 census they were living in Ripley, Derbyshire with Roger recording his name as Oswald. From this point I lose the family until Oswald and Louisa turn up on the 1925 electoral roll in Battersea (so registered in 1924) but disappear again after this date. I believe Louisa might have died in the Bolton district in 1934 but haven't got definite proof. I don't know what happened to Lily and John as there are several marriage to those names.

I'm interested in Roger Oswald as I believe he may be the man who married my great-grandmother, Ellen Billingsley nee Smith, in 1925 in Fulham using the name Thomas Oswald Mosley, as his age and father's details match that of Roger Oswald. Thomas Oswald died in 1928.

I've only recently found the electoral record in Battersea and it seems a bit of a coincidence he was less than an hours walk from where my great-grandmother lived.

I'm particularly interested in finding out if there are any Lancashire based Mosley or Burley family members who know what happened to Roger Oswald, or are there any local newspaper reports into this family? Am I barking up the wrong tree with Roger/Thomas?

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for those. From ancestry's Manchester collection I've determined the Lily Mosley who married William Farnworth is a cousin of the Lily I'm interested in. Roger's brother, Herbert Henry, had children name Lily and John around the same time.

I would be interested in knowing the address given at the time of the Louisa Mosley's burial if available, the age matches the Louisa I'm interested in.

Thanks for that info. I've found out that Louisa is located in the same grave as her brother and that she died in the local hospital. So she is the one I'm looking for, next step is to locate the children.
