Ticket of leave
« on: Wednesday 05 June 13 21:00 BST (UK) »
Looking for one Thomas Capper and his ticket of leave.
Trying to find out if he is part of my Capper clan from Ireland.

Birth Date: abt 1797
Death: 9th April 1856
Cemetery: Point Frederick Pioneer Park Cemetery
Unmarked, Gosford, New South Wales

1834 was acquitted of stealing sheep. On 28th June 1836 he was not so lucky and was found guilty of stealing cattle and was sentenced to transportation for life to NSW. He arrived on a ship Prince George in 1837, received a conditional pardon in 1851.

Will his ticket of leave confirm his birth place?  If we found out what area of birth I may be able to cross this Thomas Capper of the list, as we have another Thomas Capper with the same age marrying and having a family back in Ireland.  Nothing worse than tracing the wrong line of a family.

And far too many to add

Hi,

The Thomas who died in 1856 has parents noted on his death reg. Maybe that might help confirm if he is your fella or not. Of course death cert. info can have errors depending on how well the informant knew the deceased.

NSW death index
2064/1856    CAPPER    THOMAS    JOHN    SARAH    GOSFORD

Hi

The Earlier Post of Thomas Capper is not my man.

Our ever I am most interested to see if you Thomas is part of the family.
As far as I know my William Capper born abt 1819 was the son of William Capper and Elizabeth Hamilton.
