Annie Powrie
« on: Wednesday 05 June 13 17:10 BST (UK) »
This is my first visit so please go easy on me. I am currently compiling a family tree & would like to start by asking if anyone has any knowledge of Annie Powrie (m/s Lowson) of 5 Corso Street Dundee. She passed away in 1979 and was born in 1895. I am doing really well in my research, but am finding nearly impossible to trace any photographs of family members. I have no one else to turn to for help. The one photograph which would mean the most to me is of Anne Powrie. Yes I know this is a very long shot at best, but you never know who might read this. If anyone knew Annie, or had family members who were friends of hers please get in touch.
Annie Lowson married William Powrie (1896-1957) in 1920 at Wishart Church, Dundee. Her father was David Menzies Lowson and mother Maggie Lowson (m/s McQueen). I have extensive knowledge of 6 generations of other family members if anyone needs to cross reference information.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to tell me that. Sorry I haven't replied sooner but the wife and I have been away for the weekend and I didn't get a good mobile data signal from there. It would be very special to me if I can find the photo of William. I never knew about looking through obituary's. I'll take it you found this one at Dundee library. I am going to head down there next week to take a look for myself. I have mostly done my research on line and have only previously looked there once for a wedding photo (I didn't get one). One last thing though. How are these obituaries published. Are they in the newspapers or contained in other documents? I will of course be using the staff for help as well.
Thanks again though and if you ever feel like being "nosey"again, keep in touch please.

i've spent 35+ years researching Powrie, my maiden name. I've written a book on the 18 branches and a newsletter which goes to 55 countries. Ann Lowson married in 1920 William Puller Powrie s/o Peter Flood Powrie and Elizabeth Scott Smith. they had 7 children found so far, I have 4 with families. They are part of my branch, some 7,000 members. (back to 1754) plus a DNA project. I have photos of William's grandparents Spirit and Ale business. would be happy to share, as i don't post my research online. Mary Powrie Schacht at (*)
