Does anyone share this ancestor of mine? Bruce was my grandmother's brother and born in Lanarkshire, Scotland. At 13 he was working in the coal pit in Greenend, but in 1891 census, he was a professional footballer for Derby. He signed the death cert for my great grandmother Mary Chalmers nee Roy who died in 1904. I have the info from somewhere that about this time he was in the Merchant Navy and in Tyneside.
