How can I find out more about Coventry marriage?
« on: Friday 10 June 05 22:09 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about the marriage of my ancestors James Angliss and Mary Burnett.  I know from IGI that they were married at St Johns, Coventry in 1775.   The people at Coventry Archive looked the marriage up for me but couldn't give me any more info that I have already.  I'm particularly keen to find out more as James and Mary are my brickwall.  I want to know where James in particular was born and to whom.  I know a lot about James but not these two all important facts.  Can any more experienced family researchers in Warwickshire/Coventry area give me some advice?

Thanks

Jenny Elizabeth ???
I am interested in Angliss and variants anywhere but particularly Coventry and the rest of  Warwickshire.   Also interested in Cramp and Burnett (Warwickshire) and Hayward (Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire)

You need to search the parish records to see if there are others of that name mentioned.     A blanket search of all baptisms, marriages and deaths.   Hard work but essential.  You can get the film from your nearest LDS centre (listed on familysearch.org)
Have you checked the message boards on ancestry.com and rootsweb?   Someone was mentioning the Warwickshire family of Angliss.  Is anyone doing a one name study?    Militia lists?      Hearth tax?
Good luck
Andrea

Dear Andrea

Thanks for your reply.  The one name study person is yours truly.  I have been looking through LDS records but haven't found anything convincing yet.  Will keep struggling and will think about hearth tax/militia lists as suggested.

Best Wishes

Jenny ;D
