Ellen Broadley was born 22 jun 1838 in Clayton le Moors. She was the only girl in the family, with five brothers. Her father, John Broadley was a colour mixer in the textile industry who married a girl from Ireland, Emily Thompson. His aim was to establish his sons in manufacturing in Rochdale and the eldest, another John, "the chemist", did well and became manager of a printworks. Ellen became a schoolmistress and died in 1866.
Broadley (Lancs all dates and Halifax bef 1654)

In 1705 my 6xGreat Grandfather Gabriel Trant was buried at Lowther,Westmorland. Very little is known about Gabriel -- he seems to appear out of nowhere to marry Mary Withers in Beetham, Westmorland in 1698. He was appointed Rector & Schoolmaster at Lowther.  In the 7 years of their marriage, Gabriel & Mary had five sons, at least two of whom followed their father into the Church

In 1747 my 4xGreat Grandfather John Beverley was born in Leeds. He was the fourth son of William & Elizabeth Beverley and the only one of their 9 children to survive childhood

In 1767 my 5xGreat Uncle Joseph Watson was baptised at Welton, Northants. He was the youngest of the 8 children of George Watson & Ann Moor

In 1791 my 5xGreat Uncle Edward Carter married Elizabeth Seaman at Ottery St Mary, Devon

On 23rd June 1795 my 3xG grandmother Hannah Hainsworth was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Her family were living at Hunslet Moor which at that time I presume actually was a moor and not a district. She was baptized at St. Peter's a few days later. The name Hannah has passed down through the generations as far as my niece today.

On 23rd June 1844 my 4xG grandmother Agnes Wallace died at 59 Broughton Street, Edinburgh. She had been living there with her son Alexander and family following the death of her husband Peter the year before. At the time of his death, they had been married for 52 years, their son George was my 3xG grandfather. The name Agnes, perhaps the most common female name in my ancestry has passed down as far as my cousin, where it has apparently hit the buffers.

On this day in 1683, Amey Austen and John Palmer married in Oundle Northants
They definitely had one child John Palmer. John died in 1720 or 1730< I believe the latter, if so he was a gent.

On 24 June
Daniell  Franke my 9 x g.g.uncle was baptised at Morton by Bourne, Lincolnshire in 1604

Alice Dawson my husband’s 2 x g.g.aunt was baptised at St Mary the Virgin Church, Prestwich, Lancashire in 1825

William Brand my 2 x g.grandfather was baptised at St Denys, New Sleaford, Lincolnshire in 1825

Elizabeth Martha Brand my g.g.aunt (and daughter of William Brand above) died at 43 Broadwell, Christchurch, South Southwark, Surrey in 1852.  She was 18 months old and the cause of her death was pneumonia 3 weeks/diarrhoea 10 days.

Sir Robert de Felton my 18th g.grandfather, who was created a Lord in 1312, died at The Battle of Bannockburn, Stirlingshire in 1314

John Postlethwaite my 4 x g.g.uncle was buried at The Church of St Mary and St Michael, Great Urswick, Lancashire in 1864

Bridget Goad (nee Postlethwaite) my 5 x g.g.aunt (and aunt of John Postlethwaite above) was buried at St Cuthbert’s Church, Aldingham, Lancashire in 1803

Jane Chapman my 5 x g.g.aunt was buried at St Mary’s Church, Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire in 1734.  I can’t find a birth/baptism for her but as her parents didn’t marry until 1722 and my 5 x g.grandfather was their first child born in February 1722/23, presumably she was younger than him, so at most she would have been about 11 when she died.

On 24 June

In 1859 my 2nd cousin 2 x removed, Alice B. Conquest, was born in Genesee County, Michigan.  She was the daughter of James and Mary Conquest.  When I first found this American connection, several trees and other sources had James AND Mary as children of Josiah Conquest.  I didn't believe this, despite the fact that James had apparently been brought up by Josiah and his wife.  When I sent for the marriage certificate (they married on 21 June 1852 at St George Hanover Square, London - one I missed on Friday!) it showed that James' father was Josiah's brother Thomas, so James and Mary were in fact cousins.  I'm so glad I sorted that out!

In 1935 my aunt Doris Giovannelli Wilson died giving birth to her second son Christopher in Southampton.  Unfortunately my father lost contact with Doris' widower, and it wasn't until I started researching that I was able to find them.  Sadly, it was too late, because both Christopher and his older brother Ian had died by then.  I have at least learned about Ian's family, through his widow, who bravely replied to the letter I sent addressed to Ian.
