On 18 June
Agnes Benson (nee Postlethwaite) my 3 x g.grandmother was baptised at St Mary’s Parish Church, Dalton in Furness, Lancashire in 1792

Thomas Postlethwaite my 3 x g.g.uncle and brother of Agnes above was baptised at St Mary’s Parish Church, Dalton in Furness, Lancashire in 1797

Elizabeth Postlethwaite (nee Postlethwaite) my 5 x g.grandmother and grandmother of Agnes and Thomas above, was baptised at St Mary’s Parish Church, Dalton in Furness, Lancashire in 1732.  Elizabeth married a man with the same surname as her maiden name, but I’ve not been able to find any other connection between them despite their parents only living just over a mile from each other.  Maybe that’s something I’ll have to spend some time researching in the future.

Mary Ann Leighton (Nee Mumby) my 2 x g.g.aunt was baptised at St Botolph’s Church, Boston,  Lincolnshire in 1810

Jane Bell  my 4 x g.g.aunt was baptised at Baston, Market Deeping, Lincolnshire in 1758

And last but not least my husband and I have been married 51 years today – and they said it wouldn’t last.  ;D

On 18 June 2009 my second cousin George Samuel Conquest died in Leicester, aged 91.  He was the eldest son of George Samuel Conquest and Ada Maud Garlick, and was married to Jean Olive Dalby.
Unfortunately, like several cousins I have found during my family history research, we didn't know of each other's existence, which I find rather sad.

On 19 June 1867 a distant cousin, Willie J Conquest was born in Michigan, USA.  I cannot give a more precise relationship because I don't know exactly who his parents were!  He died age six in 1873 and his gravestone says he is the son of J and M Conquest........but these were the initials of several Conquest couples in Michigan, so he remains a mystery.

I have several today:

1757, my 6 x great aunt, Agnes Jaffray, was born in Belhelvie, daughter of William Jaffray and Jean Laurenson.

1813, my 3 x great grandfather, Benjamin Howe, was born in Tollesbury, Essex, son of Samuel Howe and Sarah Noakes. He married Thirza French in Brightlingsea in 1836 and they had four children. Benjamin was drowned in a shipping accident just outside Harwich Harbour, in 1869.

1831, 1st cousin x 5, Jane Bushby, was baptised in Spennithorne.

1841, My 3 x great uncle, George Raitt, was born in Old Machar.

1852, a 2nd cousin x 3, Isabella Begg, was born in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire.

1868, 3 x great uncle and aunt, Alexander Raitt and Isabella Hardie, were married in Old Machar.

1905, 1st cousin x3, George Frederick Cant, died in Geraldtown, Western Australia.

And finally - my niece was born in Paisley on this day in 1974, so I wish her a very happy 39th birthday.  :) :)

On 19 June
Thomas Hobson my 5 x g.grandfather married Sarah Walker a widow at St Peter’s Church, Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1757.  He married my 5 x g.grandmother in 1729 and they had 12 children, the last in 1751.  I can’t find a death/burial for my 5 x g.grandmother, so whether she just left the family or actually died prior to the above marriage I have no idea.  In 1757, my 5 x g.grandparents still had 6 children under 16, the youngest who was my 4 x g.grandfather being aged 6.  Surely their mother wouldn’t just have walked out on them, although I suppose it’s possible she left taking the children with her.

Alice Hobson (nee Pemberton) my g.grandmother was born in Kingsley, Cheshire in 1843

Herbert Pemberton my 2nd cousin once removed was born in Warrington, Cheshire in 1910

Elizabeth Hartley (nee Baxter) my 5 x g.g.aunt was baptised at St Andrew’s Church, Heckington, Lincolnshire in 1747

George Hardy my husband’s 2 x g.g.uncle was baptised at St Lawrence Church, Denton, Lancashire in 1831

John George Mumby my g.g.uncle died at 79 English Street, Myton, Hull, Yorkshire in 1890.  The cause of death was Phthisis Pulmonalis for 7 months.
