The WASLEY family of Plymouth
« on: Thursday 30 May 13 15:13 BST (UK) »
William WASLEY and Mary WILLCOCKS married in Plymouth St Andrew on 17 Feb 1822, and they had 9 children. I have traced all 4 daughters, but the 5 sons are a mystery.
William WASLEY c1823 appears in the 1841 census. Is he the William WORLEY who married Amelia GRIFFIN in 1846 and was living in Pembroke St in 1851?
Richard James WASLEY bap 25 Dec 1828 in Plymstock. Did he die before 1838?
Thomas WASLEY (1829), John Walter WASLEY (1832) and Richard WASLEY (1838) were all in Plymstock in 1841 but I can find no trace of them thereafter - no deaths, marriages or census entries.
Does anyone know anything about any of these, please?

Yes, that's the family in 1851, and I've also got the females in 1861 and later, but Richard vanishes after 1851, along with his elder brothers.
I'll look into the question of Thomas later.
Thanks.

Perhaps they went to Victoria, Australia to find their fortune in gold, along with many other Cornish miners at that time.

Good Morning
could this be John as Wackley in 1861?
John Wackley single 30 sailmakers crew Devonport on the Royal navy boat Algiers.

There's a Walter and Thomas Wasley on FindMyPast born 1832 and 1829 under Merchant and Maritome for 1845 but I don't have a Sub.
And there's a burial for Thomas Wasley 1860 Plympton St Mary.
Marriage for a William Stoke Damerel 1847.
I'd invest either in a months Sub or pay as You Go.

Thomas Wasley appears in the Merchant Navy Seamen records in 1845 - DOB 28/08/1829 signed up as a boy in 1842.

Walter is also there - joined as a boy, DOB 14/09/1832.

Miriamkinga & Ciderdrinker

Many thanks for your inputs in July, and my humble apologies for not contacting you earlier. I had intended to do so at the time but obviously neglected to do anything, and then it slipped my mind completely. Please forgive my dis-courtesy.
