Looking Vancouver family of Hector b. 1867 and Margaret Montgomery (nee Blair)

Rose Mary is listed in 1901 Ireland Census so after that.

Just checked the 1911 Ireland census, none of three are listed and could find no marriage details of a Lizzie (Elizabeth) Montgomery...very strange.

I did wonder if she was a sister-in-law rather than a sister to Hector. I've been looking at a number of records. Does the name Elizabeth Hill have any connection to your Montgomery family?

I'm still puzzling over the 'Aunt' - Mrs. E. Montgomery - who is the informant on the Samuel Smith Montgomery death record in 1955. They both had the same address - 265 E 4rth Ave.

When I check the city directories for that address I find it is occupied by:
Harold Montgomery in 1923, 24, and 25;
Eliz. Montgomery widow from 1926 through 1955.

I'm also puzzled over this death cert., but I'm wondering if this is the Lizzie (and her daughter as the informant) who came to Canada in 1911:

There is a Rose M. Montgomery with a death date of Feb 22, 1911 at Vancouver.  Born Ireland and death at age 37 (birth therefore 1874).  No image available and no parental information on FamilySearch.  Her burial is Mountain View.

This appears to be your Lizzie that immigrated with her daughter Lizzie in 1911. It would appear that she never married. She may have used Mrs. just to avoid the embarrassment and such that would accompany an unmarried woman with a child at that point in time.

It appears that John and Lizzie are married to each other and in the 1911 census he is listed as nephew in law. No children are listed for the couple.

Still trying to find info on the Elizabeth Montgomery who died in 1960 to see if she is your Lizzie.

Yes great, that is our Lizzie and her daughter. It would appear she never married (certainly not in Ireland). I'l need to dig more on the John listed in the census. Many thanks again!

I am the granddaughter of Norman Blair Montgomery, son of James and Anna Montgomery.  This blog has been amazing to read...so much history.  I don't know much about my grandfather's family other than that his parents were from Canada.  But if anyone wants to know more recent history of Norman, I can try to help!

I would love you to bring me up to date re Norman Blair Montgomery's family and that of his brother Robert B. (?) Montgomery.
