Two Tulett families
« on: Tuesday 28 May 13 15:05 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more about two lines of the Tullett family.  The surname is recorded as being Tulett and I am looking for any information on John Tulett born 1635 Hampshire and died 1692 East Meon, Hampshire.  I believe he married an Ann Pratt on 25 July 1660.  The other family are that of Stephen Tulett born 1706 in Slaugham, Sussex who I believe married Jane Lillywhite born 1748 and died 1797.  They may have had a child Ann but I am not sure.  He then married Mary Bowles 1 November 1769 and they had a son James born 1770 who died on the Isle of Wight 1840.  I would love to know more and about any other children in either family.  Thanks for your help!

Hi, there:

Found LDS records stating:

John Tulat married Ann Pratt at Chalton, Hants on 25 July, 1660.
John Tulet and An had a daughter, Anne, who was christened at Chalton, Hants on 15 Dec, 1668.

So far no info on Stephen and family found...will keep looking!

Hi, again:

LDS records once more:

Stephen TULIP and Mary had the following issue, all christened in Harting on the following dates:

4 Feb, 1770 James
29 Jan, 1775 Sarah
1 Feb 1778, William

Don't know if these are your relatives or not.  The dates you gave for Stephen would suggest he was 42 years older than Jane (wife no. 1) and 63 when he married Mary.  I know it's not impossible but you may want to check a little deeper before adding these to your tree.

Hi Lydiaan thanks for the information.  Stephen marrying Mary does fit in with the snippets I have found.  It seems he was an active person!  I guess they worked on the land in those times, as I have been trying to find out what the area they lived in would have been like then and have so far come across small hamlets surrounded by farm land.
