George hasn't been on Rootschat for many years*. He decided that he needed to get on with other things. He was an excellent photographer.

I'm sure he would have liked your restore, japeflakes  :)

I particularly like the little lad second from the right, front row  ;D

For what it's worth,  it does say St Peters so I'd bet on the Rochdale school.

I wondered why the description "Group 15" rather than "Form/Class"? A big event was the Sunday Schools' procession in Whit week. Would they look as tidy as this on a normal school day or was something special going on?

Rochdale Observer, 3 Jun 1882
THE WHITSUNTIDE HOLIDAYS - The Sunday School Procession*

"There cannot be a prettier site than the procession of Sunday School children in our Lancashire towns in Whit week?"

At the mention of Newbold my ears pricked up, as several generations of my family have been connected with Rochdale's Newbold Baptist Church since its innovation, including my great-grandfather, John Hurst.  He did have connections with the Sunday School there, which was originally started for children who were working in the mills and could only get to school on a Sunday.

There is, however, a St Peter's C of E church and a primary school in the Newbold district of Rochdale of that name, so the photo could be showing children from that school, which was founded around 1870. The children certainly are looking smart.  The Whit Walks would usually be the time for children to get new clothes.
