Crossett & Irwin
« on: Thursday 23 May 13 12:28 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys,
In serious need of help.
I am looking for any information on Samuel Crossett (1912 - ) married to Adeline Lucy Irwin (1922 - ).
Both were born in Northern Ireland somewhere and both are now deceased.
They have 1 son that I know about "Living" Crossett and possibly 5 or 6 more children. I believe both travelled to Australia and died somewhere there.
I have no idea where to look for information from Northern Ireland and I have no more on Samuel or Adeline.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Samuel Crossett born 1912 Belfast- https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBR6-WNR

Samuel just missed the 1911 Irish census (latest one available) and the online civil registration index (www.familysearch.org) only goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties so you won't findAdeline's birth or their marriage in the index.

You really need to search Australian records to find further details- death certificates for both Samuel and Adeline might give names of parents, etc.

Their arrival in Australia (1951) with 3 children (names not posted as they might be living) shown under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme-
CROSSETT Samuel born 26 November 1912; Adeline (nee Irwin) born 12 June 1920...
See http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

As previously mentioned in this thread, you really need to work back from death certificates etc. but worth noting for later this possibility on parents for Adeline Lucy Crossett.  A John Irwin married an Adeline Lucy Hayes in Belfast in 1912, she appearing the previous year in this census record:

Thanks so much guys. I'm actually doing this research for an elderly Family Friend so we both appreciate the help.
I need to check some more details with the Family Member but some of the information you have bought to light has proved fruitful.
Thank you so very much.

Hi Jen,
My wife (Carole Witkowski nee Crossett) is the daughter of Samuel and Adeline. Carole has a brother and a sister.

Yes they migrated to Australia in 1951.

We have a family tree on my Heritage.com that includes the Crossett, the Irwin, Irvine and the Hayes families.

Who is the friend that you are searching for as I am sure that Carole's brother, sister and Adeline Lucy's Sister in law who still lives in Belfast might know your friend.

Regards
Kevin
