Missing Grandfather; John Joseph Tomany

My Maternal grandfather John Joseph Tomany, born 17th July, 1902, Glasgow; Statutory Births 646/01 0568

He vanishedm never to be heard of again after the 'suspicious death' of his wife, Jemima Tomany in Withington; July 1939.

I've scoured lots n lots n lots of records - but have never managed to find him anywhere.

J V, Tomany,marriage Manchester Withington St Christopher,1952,is she his daughter,names after her mother

Yes Radcliff - JV (Jemima Violet) is his daughter. Violet - as we called her got married to Sidney Reid in 1952 in Manchester.

Sounds worth looking into that Timony 1941 marriage - do u have the GRO numbers - do people lookup certificates?

I'm just practising saying Tomany in accent that's half glasgow n half lancs LOL ....

On the same site you will find an Eleanor Bohen ,birth registered St George Manchester 1904
Possible sisters Winifrid and Mary Edna,so she may be worth investigating

2 children born to that marriage in 1941 and 1945

I think will have to check out further.

From my understanding it is possible to view original certificates at certain places? If this is true do you's have any clues where this could be done (I might have to try twisting one of my UK nieces arms) :-)
