Photo of a Nurse
« on: Wednesday 22 May 13 11:56 BST (UK) »
Hi!  I have here a photo that I believe MIGHT be one of my relatives Rose Charlotte Woodley 1907 London -1969 Cornwall (never married).  I have her listed as working at the Grove Park Hospital on Marvels Lane in London in the 1930 Electoral Register.  When my Uncle died he left me a box of photos - most of which were not labelled - and this is one of them.  >:(

I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what decade they think this photo was taken in and what sort of nursing uniform it is?  My knowldege of nursing uniforms is zero!

Many thanks, Nina

Trouble with nurses' uniforms is that they didn't change much for decades.  My opinion is that this photo was taken in the 50s; she seems to have a 50s hairstyle.

Hi - yes - I had been eyeing up the chair too - so do we all feel comfortable settling on the 1950s?  Nina  :D

I agree with Carol, that's a very 1950s chair!  That would put the lady in her 40s, which would be about right.

Great photo Nina, and looking very proud of her occupation.

Very Emergency Ward 10 isn't it?   with an apron starched to within an inch of its life.

I wish I had photos of my gt gt aunts, I would love to see them in uniform.  In fact, I would just love to see them, whether uniform of mufti.
