I am trying to find out about the career of this chap. He was born in January 1770 the son of Mark Warcup and Frances Loney. In 1787 he was apprenticed to Dodo Ecken a surgeon who also happened to be married to a Mary Loney. He married Isabella Mason in Mar 1793 in St Marylebone and his son William Mark Wacup was born in 1794 in Paddington. In 1802 he is appointed garrison surgeon on Martinique. I know no more about him, I am presuming that he possibly died on Martinique, as a lot of the British army seemed to succumb to disease there! His wife Isabella died in 1853 and is buried in Scarning Norfolk where the son William M Warcup was practising as a surgeon/apothecary. There is no sign of a will at the National Archives. Would army surgeons be listed in the Army lists at all? Thanks for any pointers!
