St Clements Ipswich ADMAS
« on: Monday 20 May 13 14:57 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a baptism for Henry Taylor Adams who was born around 1866 in Ipswich.
His parents were Henry Adams and Maria Haken.
Thank you, in advance, for any assistance or suggestions.

Thank you for your rapid reply.
It is quite possible that those are the baptisms for the ADAMS family.
Margaret Ann was Henry Taylor's older sister.
It is interesting that BUNGAY is listed as the maiden name of the mother.
I "thought" that the father Henry Taylor Adams was born in Bunday and that the maiden name of his wife was Maria Haken.
Unfortunately, at the time of Henry Taylor Adams (Jr) marriage in Ontario it just lists the parents as Henry and Maria Adams.

I obviously need to do more research into the Bungay area.
What is the name (e.g., Holy Trinity, St. John's) of the church in Bungay where these baptisms happened.
Is there a way to get access to an actual image of the page(s) in the parish register where the two baptisms are recorded.

The baps were taken from the Suffolk Baptism Index, it doesn't say which of the Bungay churches they took place in. You could contact Suffolk Record Office and enquire.

There is this other bap showing in Bungay.

Henry Taylor Adams
25th February, 1820
son of William and Ann
father a labourer.

also to William and Ann

George =9th April and  27th April, 1827(don't know why two dates)
Charlotte = 15th March, 1818 = this says Bungay Holy Trinity
Mary Ann = 3rd October, 1816 = Holy Trinity
Rachael = 2nd February, 1822
Susan = 18th October, 1832
John = 2nd February, 1824

and this one, was Henry Taylor married before.

William Adams
son of Henry Taylor and Susan
19th October, 1845
father a whitesmith of Ipswich St. Margaret.
Bungay.

Henry Taylor ADAMS (abode Melton) buried 6 Jan 1875 Bungay St Mary.  Age 55
Melton is just NE of Ipswich.

Maria ADAMS buried 4 Oct 1871 but there are 2 entries on the Suffolk Burial Index for what is obviously the same person so it will take some verification especially as far as her age goes.
Maria Adams, abode Ipswich ST Clement bur 4 Oct 1871 age 46 (died 29 Sep Rope Lane), Ipswich Cemetery.
or
Maria Adams, abode Ipswich St Clement, bur 4 Oct 1871 age 41 (Rope Walk) Ipswich St Clement.

William ADAMS (abode Bungay, St Mary) married Ann NORMAN 19 Feb 1815 Bungay, Holy Trinity.

William ADAMS (abode Bungay St Mary) buried 5 Sep 1855 age 70 Bungay St Mary (parish clerk for 35yrs)

Couldn't find an Ann Adams but there is this one
Anna ADAMS of Bungay Holy Trinity buried 8 Mar 1860 age 67  Bungay St Mary.

Can't see a burial for a Susan Adams tho either in Ipswich or Bungay on the Suffolk burial Index but there are 2 deaths registered (FreeBMD) in 1848 in the Wangford Reg Dist, which covers Bungay.
Henry Taylor ADAMS & a Susan HERVEY are both listed as marrying in the JunQtr 1844 Wangford Ref13/777.

Hope you can link some of this to what Sue has found & to your family
K
ps.  Henry Taylor ADAMS & Maria HAKEN are both listed as marrying in Sep Qtr 1859 Ipswich Reg Dist Ref: 4a/864 (free BMD).
