Bray family - Trowbridge

Is anyone looking for/ have any information on the Bray family that live in Trowbridge?
It would be nice to come across someone that is looking at/for the same family.

I'll go from my grandad.
Kenneth Alfred Bray b. Oct 1928 - brother Frederick Ernest Bray b.1926 d.2002 Gloucestershire and Herbert Ernest Bray also born 1926.

Their father is Frederick Ernest Bray b. 1895 (d.1961 semington) who married Beatrice Ethel Swaine (also known as Ethel Beatrice b.1898 d.16/6/1971 semington) in Melksham in 1926.

Fredericks father was also called Frederick b.1868 Hilpertons Marsh who married Annie Elizabeth Holloway (b. Steeple Ashton 1873) in Melksham in 1894.
They had William Clements b.1901, Stanley Nelson b.1904 d.1925 Bristol, Florence Lily b.1897, Dorothy Gladys b. 1907 and Ernest Victor George b.12/5/1910 and of course Frederick Ernest.

From there in all honesty I get a little bit lost. Can anyone help me with Fredericks father? I'm not sure if its a William or a Fredrick and when I asked my grandad he came up with and I quote "It was a bloke from Trowbridge" o_O

Yes I can see your problem because there are two Fredericks born Trowbridge c1868/9
To be absolutely sure you should buy the marriage cert for Frederick and Annie. This will give their fathers' names and occupations which will sort them out.

Frederick Rowland Bray is with parents Frederick and Mary in 1881 so if yours doesn't have the middle name Rowland then his parents are more likely to be William and Martha

Thank you. I don't think he has a middle name.

I think maybe his father is William as I found this on family search.

That is confirmation that William is his father.

There is a public tree on ancestry that has William Rowland Bray marrying a Louisa Mason so another reason to rule him out as your Frederick.

I've found a Martha Ford marrying a William Bray in Alderbury in 1885 but that can't be the right ones surely?

Well yes it could be. Something could have prevented their marriage sooner or maybe they just didn't get around to it!
Maybe check the 1891 census to see if there is another William and Martha.

A Tree has Martha as nee WOODS but no Marriage.
