I have found on an index the marriage of George Thornton Cripps and Elizabeth Jane Elliott, at St John's Anglican Cathedral, Buenos Aires, Argentina 8th June 1895.

I can find nothing else about Elizabeth Jane Elliott.

Do Argentinian church records give the father's name on their marriage records?

Where can I see the marriage record?

A George Thornton Cripps and Gwendolin Thornton Cripps plus Olga, Thomas, Charles and Bertha Cripps all arrived in Southampton from Buenos Aires on the 27.3.1909 aboard The Avon - no ages given

On 27.4.1912 - George Thornton Cripps & Elizabeth Jane arrived Southampton from Rio de Janeiro.  No ages shown

On 14.6.1913 George T Cripps aged 45 arrived alone in Southampton from Buenos Aires

Those references are my Elizabeth Jane Elliott.

Olga and Bertha were baptised at St Saviour's in the Belgrano district of Buenos Aires.

From her marriage Elizabeth Jane Elliott was born in England about 1869. Without knowing exactly where in England or her parents names. How do I find Elizabeth Janes birth?

Freebmd has several births for that name between 1868-1869.  However - that pre-supposes her birth was registered.  Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence from 1874/5

Elizabeth (E J Elliott)  left Liverpool for Argentina on 28.2.1895  aboard the Oropesa.  The passenger list gives no clues as to her last address in England etc

I see that the witnesses at marriage are:
"John Angus, William Sheppard, Jane A. Angus"

Interesting because I think Elizabeth is on the 1895 census (as Ysabel Elliott) with "Juan" and "Juana" Angus, and their daughter Lillian.  (George is elsewhere on this census indexed as G.Y.Criffs but looks like Cripps).

She married reasonably quickly after arrival - did she go out to be married or was it a whirlwind romance?

George Thornton Cripps' home town was Devizes in Wiltshire, where his father Henry was a Chemist.
In 1891 the there was an Elizabeth Jane Elliott living in Devizes. She was the daughter of James Rowden Elliott, a haulier. She was born around 1869 in Salisbury.  In the 1891 census she and her sister Kate are draper's assistants in the household of Edwin Yearsley at 30-31 Brittox, just a few seconds' walk from the Cripps residence in the Market Place .

She appears in several submitted trees on Ancestry but there are no references after 1891.

Seems a likely candidate !
