Hello!  I’m trying to trace my husband’s half sister, Caroline, who was born in August 1966 in the Assisi home, Surrey, to Verena Sigrist.  If anyone knew of someone there around that time I would love to hear from you!  Thank you.

Hello Annaok, do you have any other information, ie was Caroline adopted etc.   Perhaps it's best to private message me when you have time.   I was the lady who started this thread.   Am willing to help if possible.   Kindest regards, Kathryn

Hello, thank you for that information.  Am just hoping that someone may be able to help on this site.  Will give it a week and then if there is no further information I'll contact the Society you have given me the details of.  It may well be that someone will read this post and they too may have been at the home.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Hello,
I was born in Assisi Mother & Baby home , Hammer Lane, Grayshott in November 1967. I am trying to find my care/birth records. I have traced my baptism certificate through Diagrama but they can’t trace my records. I wonder if there is any guidance or this.
Many thanks
Peter

Hi Peter

I hope I am posting to the right thread here, I just received notification of your message.  I managed to trace our relative through an adoption agency.  Can you send me a message?  I can then send you the info I have for you to contact them and see if they have your records too.  Anna

I’m new to this site. As in today
is my first use of it. When you say send a message do you mean a private one?I’d have to look how to do it.

Hi Peter

I contacted this lady, who confirmed that her agency was the one who handled the adoption.  Once she confirmed she had the record, we paid a £550 fee to act as an intermediary but you might not have to as you are trying to trace your file, so might just be a question of finding out if she has your details on their records.  She is amazing and we managed to trace my husband's sister and contact her through her.

Hi Peter.
I don’t know what you’ve learnt since your post, but have you tried getting in touch with social services?
Find the Adoption dept. of the council where you are currently live, (not the council that dealt with your adoption, unless you still live there), and ask them about the process of seeing your adoption records. They will interview you first, and then start the process. Could take up to 6 months, sometimes longer. Good luck.
