Marriage record question - James Crooks and Margaret Young
« on: Thursday 09 May 13 22:02 BST (UK) »
I'm looking at a marriage record for James Crooks to Margaret Young on 6 May 1722.  In the record, it says that James Crooks is "ser." to Alexander Young, a brewer in Foulbridge, and that Margaret Young is "ser." to William Alves.

Does "ser." mean servant?

Hi DHYoung,

Foulbridge was changed to Fountainbridge about 1735 and is just off Lothian Road.

Regards.

Archie.
