missing records!
« on: Tuesday 07 May 13 12:27 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am in a muddle: my great-grandfather, Charles Forbes Nevin's death cert gives 2 marriages, but I can only find one online at ScotlandsPeople. It doesnt help that I've got varying names for her, but Charles' name only brings up one marriage cert! I'm in Kent and cant travel at all easily, so have to rely on online records. Where can I look next?

Hi Avelinghelen,

Both weddings of Charles F* Niven are on Scotland Peoples website,

1882 Charles Forbes Niven to Mary McKay at South Leith church.

1890 Charles F* Niven to Mary Isabella B Anderson at same church.

30 credits will cost £7, these 2 certificates will only cost you 11 credits, approx. £3. if you search for Charles F* Niven.

I've been looking for Mary Isabella for the last month,Tom! Thank you very much for confirming she actually did marry Charles. I will dig out my bank card again and see if it'll work.

I thought so from the 1891 census for the family.

If you don't have a photo of the gravestone for William, you can request a free photo of it from the link above.
